{"id":11636,"date":"2025-04-02T16:49:34","date_gmt":"2025-04-02T23:49:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/neuroticattorney.com\/blog\/?p=11636"},"modified":"2025-04-02T16:49:34","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T23:49:34","slug":"what-you-resist-persists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neuroticattorney.com\/blog\/?p=11636","title":{"rendered":"What You Resist Persists"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Lately, most mornings, I start my day with some readings and meditation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s a place, where I look out a wall of windows to watch the sun rise slowly over houses and trees. About 30 feet wide and 10 feet tall, the wall is adorned with thick white window frames showcasing the view. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trajectory of the sunrise changes throughout the year, and I tilt my head back-and-forth, and I close and open one eye, to change my view. I change my perspective, creating new views outta branches and shadows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I enjoy going through the seasons, especially this time of year, watching the trees bud into leaves. It&#8217;s an awakening. A good reminder of those three poisons of human suffering: Indifference. Attachment. For many years, NOLA meant the start of spring because I annually attended the French Quarter Festival. NOLA was and remains my favorite place. I cannot wait to go back home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The music. The people. The energy. It was love at first visit, which was during the French Quarter Festival in April 2005. I can&#8217;t believe my first FQF was 20 years ago, when the FQF was just a small local street fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Things change over 20 years, and I&#8217;ve traveled to NOLA during other times of year (Halloween was a good time), but the FQF is my love, my favorite time. I&#8217;m looking forward to my official start of spring. I&#8217;m looking forward to an awakening. I can&#8217;t wait to close one eye, and tilt my head back-and-forth, all while strolling in the French Quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To change my perspective, my trajectory, and to create new views outta albeit familiar sights, and sounds, and smells, and tastes. A sapience that naturally develops through the accumulation of experience over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will set an intention. A Sankalpa. What do I want to accomplish this time? What enlightenment obtained? I think it&#8217;s interesting that Les Mis\u00e9rables periodically shows up in my world, and I fucking love the Orpheum &#8211; but I haven&#8217;t stepped foot in The City in a gazillion years. It reminds me of this social experiment being conducted by a jeweler. She&#8217;d nonchalantly place tiny diamonds on the counter near the cash register to see what people would do. Kinda like my painted nails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">&#8212;ooOoo&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Texas update: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She&#8217;s on her way toward landing a job and buying a house. It would not surprise anyone if she were to be in Texas by the end of June, as planned. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m still dilly-dallying with shiny rocks and things, but I decided to move forward with law licensing in Texas and Tennessee. I didn&#8217;t forget my records request. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you to those willing to be references. As noted, the background check alone can take up to ten months, so it&#8217;s gonna be a long process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime, I got trips and shows planned throughout the year, and I&#8217;m even gonna see some old dear friends along the way.
