I don\u2019t write
like other people write.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things get in my head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stories.
Words.
Themes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjectives, nouns, verbs\u2014
things without names,
things that don\u2019t know
they’re things yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They gather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They crowd each other,
push against the inside of me,
looking for someplace to go,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

until there are so many
I can\u2019t take it anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then I write.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It reminds me of being a kid,
of cutting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That terrible relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like taking a razor
to something already aching
and finally giving it
a way out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only now
I cut open the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I bleed into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fear.
Insecurity.
Worry.
Love.
Anger.
Every thought I couldn\u2019t quiet,
every word I couldn\u2019t say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I let them run
until they soak through,
until they permeate
the pulp and fiber of the paper,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

until I can\u2019t tell anymore
where the writing ends<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and I begin.<\/p>\n\n\n
